I took this photo of the Superstition Mountains, popularly called "The Superstitions" at sunset, bringing out the true colors of the mountain. It is a range of mountains in Arizona located to the east of the Phoenix metropolitan area. They are anchored by Superstition Mountain, a large mountain that is a popular recreation destination for residents of the Phoenix, Arizona area.

The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, locally known as the "Gorge Bridge" is located 10 miles northwest of Taos New Mexico. The bridge was completed in 1965. It is the seventh highest bridge in the United States and 82nd highest bridge in the world.

I captured this s dying Joshua Tree in Joshua Tree National Park. The Joshua Tree, the largest of the yuccas, grows only in the Mojave Desert. Natural stands of this picturesque, spike-leafed evergreen grow nowhere else in the world. Its height varies from 15-40 feet with a diameter of 1-3 feet. They shoot up 2 to 3 inches a year, takes 50 to 60 years to mature and they can live for 150 years.​​

Cholla Cactus Garden

I captured these Teddy Bears, or Jumping Cholla in Joshua Tree National Park. The chollas have a segmented growth pattern. The segments of the Teddy Bear Cholla are easily detached from the plant by a soft touch of a passing animal or human, or even by strong winds. Many people might swear that the cactus jumped at them and grabbed them, which explains the common name, Jumping Cholla.

Grove Of Mohave Yucca Plants

I captured this grove of Mohave Yucca plants at sunset in Joshua Tree National Park. This evergreen shrub or small tree has a few upright branches and bayonet-like leaves from 2 to 4 feet long and 1-1/2 inches wide. The trunk is grayish-brown and 6 to 12 inches in diameter. The Mojave Yucca grows to a height of 16 feet. It has bell-shaped flowers between 1 and 2 inches long that bloom in springtime in the desert.​​
